To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

  • Whazzup people?! I am going to drop the whole “intro” thing from now on and just talk a little bit about my life before the actual review part starts. Sound good? I thought so, but that could just be me. Anyways, just finished up the second 6 weeks for my school year with straight A’s—yay me! So I haven’t been able to post much. Forgive me 😉

Author: Jenny Han

For teens 13 and up

Lara Jean Covey has no clue how she got into this mess. Nobody was ever supposed to read the letters. But now all 5 are out, how is she going to get herself out of this disaster? Argh! Curse middle school crushes! Woah woah woah, stop everything you’re doing and go get a copy of Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve loved Before, following Lara Jean in a hilariously amazing and romantic high school love story. I recently watched this movie adaption on Netflix and it was amAzing! I mean, WoW. Slightly different than the books, but in a good way. I’d definitely recommend it. Whenever Lara Jean has a crush so intense that all she can do is spend hours and hours daydreaming about them and creating fantasies in her mind, she writes a letter. At age 16, there are 5 total: Peter Kavinsky, the lacrosse jock and school favorite, Lucas Krapf, the well-mannered, well-dressed gentlemen, John Ambrose McClaren, with the day in the rain and the spin-the-bottle kiss, Kenny from camp, who saved a drowning kid, and Josh Sanderson, who Lara Jean has loved forever. However, Josh is also Lara Jean sister Margot’s boyfriend, which complicates things. When the couple have a sudden breakup, all 5 of Lara Jean’s letters somehow mail themselves to the receivers. This means trouble. How do you explain to your sister’s ex-boyfriend that you’re madly in love with him? Luckily, Peter also received a letter, and with his recent breakup with his girlfriend, Lara Jean and Peter make a deal: They would become a fake couple. That way Lara Jean wouldn’t have to face Josh and the truth, and Peter could make his ex jealous enough to want him back. Great plan…right? However, the farther into the charade they go, the more Lara Jean’s old feelings for Peter return. Is it possible to love two boys at once? Lara Jean’s story continues in two other books, P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever, Lara Jean, each new book bringing new ideas, laughs, and major OTP moments. Please, please, PLEASE look into this creatively put together trilogy, it’s been one of my favorite series I’ve read this year, and that leaves me with only one question: Are you team Covinsky?

~FUN FACTS~

• Author Jenny Han actually wrote her first novel while she was still in college, titled Shug, about a young 12-year-old getting through jr high.

• Han is also a huge potterhead (like me!) and belongs to the Serphent house of Slytherin, unlike me, a proud Gryffindor lion.

• She has a blog, http://dearjennyhan.blogspot.com/, called Dear Jenny Han, all about her upcoming books, movies, or whatever else she finds interesting.

• Along with being a huge Potterhead (as seen in the books) Han is also a big Swifty (Style is a big deal with Lara Jean) So basically, Jenny Han is a fangirl, which is something most of us can relate to.

• Her zodiac sign is Virgo, since her birthday is September 3. (Which is two days after the first day of Hogwarts, btw)

If you enjoyed this series as much as I did, Jenny Han might be receiving a love letter herself from me, saying how much I love her writing, lol. I hope you look into these 3 awesome books and love them as much as I did! Until next time, stay classy!
