The Siren

  • Ugh. It’s Tuesday, and I only have three weeks left of school. So much for my plan to post more often. Anyways, I’m back with a brand new post so um, yay me I guess. 😂

Genre: Romance

Author: Kiera Cass

For ages 11 and up

What would you pay to be saved from drowning? The sea can be beautiful and kind, but it can be harsh and brutal as well, as Kahlen soon discovers. The legend of the sirens is well known, how they lure boats to their rooms with their voice. When Kahlen is turned into a victim aboard one of these ships, she was given a second chance. By becoming a siren, she would serve the ocean for a 100 year sentence. But her voice would be deadly to any who hear it. For a while, all was well. As long as Kahlen didn’t speak, she could still do as she pleased and live her life, aside from the Ocean’s callings. But then came Akinli. Mysterious, cute, and funny, he quickly has Kahlen growing more and more curious to find out more about him. However, as she becomes closer to him, the more she starts to become more and more attached, and she now must face the difficult choice between letting him go or a lifetime of silence. Kiera Cass is back with an amazing stand alone book, filled with just as much romance as her first series, The Selection. I absolutely adored this book, each page brought me deeper and deeper into the story. Kahlen is such an interesting character to get to know throughout the book, and I loved hearing her point of view in the many hardships she encountered. I really hope you enjoy this book, and may the sea set you free.

~FUN FACTS~

  • This isn’t much of a fun fact necessarily, but if anyone uses the app called webtoon, there’s a really good story called The Siren’s Lament that I cannot stop reading. I wait for it to update every week and it’s the highlight of my Friday lol.
  • In the earliest recordings of Sirens, in Greek mythology, they are described to be half bird, half women creatures who lure boats to death with their song.
  • According to Greek mythology, Odysseus encountered three Sirens by the names of Peisinoe, Aglaope, and Thelxiepeia on his quest.
